The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) academic calendar for 2024-2025 is now available online. The calendar includes important dates and deadlines for students, faculty, and staff.

The fall semester will begin on August 25, 2024, and end on December 12, 2024. The spring semester will begin on January 13, 2025, and end on May 8, 2025. There will be no classes on Labor Day (September 2, 2024), Thanksgiving Day (November 28, 2024), and Christmas Day (December 25, 2024).

In addition to the regular academic calendar, the university also offers a variety of summer courses. Summer classes will be offered in two sessions: Maymester (May 12-June 6, 2025) and Summer Session I (June 9-July 11, 2025). Summer Session II will be offered from July 14-August 8, 2025.

Summer 2025 Sessions

Session 1 is a five-week session that runs from May 12 through June 19, 2025. This session is ideal for students who want to complete a full-credit course in a compressed timeframe. Session 1 courses meet Monday through Friday, with class times varying depending on the course.

Session 2 (June 23 – July 31)

Session 2 is a six-week session that runs from June 23 through July 31, 2025. This session is ideal for students who want to complete a full-credit course or spread their coursework over a longer period. Session 2 courses meet Monday through Friday, with class times varying depending on the course.

Session 3 (June 23 – July 10)

Session 3 is a three-week session that runs from June 23 through July 10, 2025. This session is ideal for students who want to complete a half-credit course or catch up on coursework from a previous semester. Session 3 courses meet Monday through Friday, with class times varying depending on the course.

Academic Breaks and Holidays

ETBU observes several academic breaks and holidays throughout the year, providing students with opportunities for rest, relaxation, and travel. These breaks include:

Fall Break

Fall Break typically occurs in mid-October and lasts for one week. This break provides students with a chance to recharge and prepare for the second half of the semester.

Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving Break begins the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and ends on the Sunday after the holiday. This four-day break allows students to spend time with family and friends and enjoy the Thanksgiving festivities.

Christmas Break

Christmas Break begins the week before Christmas and ends the first week of January. This extended break provides students with ample time to celebrate the holidays and rest before the start of the spring semester.

Spring Break

Registration Dates and Deadlines

Registration for the 2024-2025 academic year at ETBU will open on the following dates:

Regular Registration

Late Registration

Students who have not registered by the regular registration deadline may register during late registration, which begins on August 1, 2024. A late registration fee will be assessed.

Add/Drop Period

The add/drop period for the fall semester begins on August 21, 2024, and ends on September 8, 2024. The add/drop period for the spring semester begins on January 19, 2025, and ends on February 2, 2025.

Withdrawal Deadlines

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must do so by the following deadlines:

Drop and Add Deadlines

Students may drop or add courses during the add/drop period, which typically occurs at the beginning of each semester. The deadlines for dropping and adding courses vary depending on the semester and the individual course. In general, the last day to add a course is the first week of classes, while the last day to drop a course with a full refund is the end of the first week of classes. The last day to drop a course with a partial refund is the end of the second week of classes. After the second week of classes, students may only drop a course with the approval of the instructor and the academic dean.

Students who drop a course after the drop deadline with a partial refund will receive a “W” grade on their transcript. Students who drop a course after the drop deadline with no refund will receive an “F” grade on their transcript.

Final Exam Schedule

The final exam schedule for Fall 2024 will be posted on the Registrar’s Office website in early November 2024. The final exam schedule for Spring 2025 will be posted in early April 2025.

Commencement Ceremony

The 2025 Commencement Ceremony for East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) will be held on **Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM** in the Ornelas Center. Graduates, their families, and friends are encouraged to attend the celebration of academic achievement and the graduation of the Class of 2025.
